A cryptocurrency kiosk (also known as a Bitcoin ATM) allows a person to conveniently buy or sell cryptocurrency with cash. Unlike online cryptocurrency exchanges that only allow purchasing with credit/debit cards, these kiosks give you immediate access to digital currency in exchange for cash.

Cryptocurrency kiosks are easy to use and require few steps for your initial registration. They are generally located in establishments such as gas stations, convenience stores, money exchanges, and other heavily trafficked areas. These kiosks are connected to cryptocurrency exchanges through the internet and do not link to a financial institution.

• Cryptocurrency Wallet

  • A cryptocurrency wallet is required in order to receive bitcoin you purchased from the kiosk. You can learn more about cryptocurrency wallets here.

• A Valid ID

  • ​​​​​​​In order to qualify for the maximum purchase amount, you will need to register with a government issued ID. This is only required for your initial registration visit.

• Cash

  • Make sure to bring cash with you to purchase Bitcoin!

Purchasing Bitcoin from a CryptoLink kiosk is easy and can be done in minutes as long as you’re prepared and understand the process.

1. Select the “buy coins” option on the machine and select the amount that you would like to buy.

2. Enter your phone number to receive a verification number through SMS. If you are a new customer, you will have to enter your full name and email to verify your identity.

3. Tell us where you would like your Bitcoin to be sent. You can either scan your cryptocurrency wallet QR code, choose to receive a paper wallet, or enter a wallet address.

4. Insert desired amount of cash into the machine in exchange for Bitcoin. Once you have finished inserting bills, press “Finish”.

5. Now, all that's left is to wait for the bitcoin amount you purchased to hit your digital wallet.

Before owning any cryptocurrency, you need somewhere to store it. Just like in the physical world, you store Bitcoin in a wallet. Your wallet is a tool used to store, send, and receive Bitcoin. There are two types of wallets available for use at a CryptoLink Kiosk. A hot wallet and a paper wallet.

• A hot wallet is connected to the internet and can be downloaded as a mobile app to your phone. When prompted by the kiosk, you will scan the QR code found in your mobile app to receive your Bitcoin. If using a wallet from your mobile device, it is always best to have the wallet setup before you visit the kiosk. Depending on your Bitcoin preferences, Bitcoin.org has a helper that will show you which wallet to choose.

• A paper wallet does not operate on the Internet, it is a printed receipt that contains QR codes to store Bitcoins. Be sure you do not lose or damage your paper wallet, or your funds will be losy forever,

If you choose to, you can scan the private key QR code on your paper wallet to transfer your funds to a hot wallet. The public key is used to fund the wallet and the private key is used to retrieve funds from the wallet.

Within an hour of your transaction being sent to the cryptocurrency exchanges, better known as the Blockchain. This may vary depending on the activity on the Blockchain and the amount that you purchase.
